Unbeaten Australian contender Nikita Tszyu has suffered minor injuries following a car crash over the weekend, casting doubt on whether he will return to the ring again in 2025.

“No Limit Boxing” confirmed that the 27-year-old southpaw was involved in a collision at an intersection, though his condition is not considered serious. “He sustained minor injuries and is now recovering at home with his family,” said company spokesperson Tim Ashworth in a statement.

Tszyu had been targeting another fight before year’s end after returning from a year-long layoff in August, when he stopped previously unbeaten Lulzim Ismaili in the first round in Sydney. The victory followed a grueling ninth-round win over Koen Mazoudier in 2024 that initially sidelined him due to injuries.

Plans were in motion for a future clash with domestic rival Michael Zerafa, who also fought and won on the same August card. However, that bout will likely be pushed back to 2026 as Tszyu continues to recover. “A decision regarding any return to ring in 2025 will be made in the coming weeks,” Ashworth added.

The younger brother of former WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu, Nikita represents the newest generation of the famed fighting family led by their father, Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu. While his long-term outlook remains positive, his immediate boxing future is now temporarily on hold as he focuses on full recovery.
