The bout between Michael Williams Jr. (20-1, 13 KOs) and Adrien Broner (34-4-1, 24 KOs), which was supposed to take place on February 25 of 2023 in Atlanta, has been postponed.
According to insiders, Broner, who hasn't fought since February 2021, will make a comeback in April in Atlanta.
This week, Williams injured his jaw while sparring, according to his father, Michael Williams Sr. The unnoticed 23-year-old was Broner's third opponent to back out of their battle on February 25. Ivan Redkach, who had previously challenged for the title, was swapped out for Hank Lundy.
For his first fight in almost two years, Broner is now looking for a new opponent. When the former four-division champion last competed, he defeated Jovanie Santiago by a disputed decision.
The Cincinnati native, 33, broke off his relationship with Al Haymon's PBC in order to compete for BLK Prime. A three-fight losing run was broken with Broner's victory over Santiago.
Due to the postponement of the event, Tevin Farmer and Mickey Bey's co-main fight will now take place on another date. Following the boxing event in December of 2022 that saw Terence Crawford knock out David Avanesyan, BLK Prime sought to put on a second noteworthy boxing card.
