Unblemished boxing sensation Richardson Hitchins is no longer content simply showcasing his dominance; the 25-year-old Olympian is calling out for a worthy adversary. Unimpressed with the current WBC titlist Regis Prograis and recently unretired WBO champion Teofimo Lopez, Hitchins is certain that none in the super lightweight elite can match him. However, his interest is piqued by 135-pound undisputed champion, Devin Haney, who is likely to move up in weight.
“Me and Devin Haney,” Hitchins announced during an Instagram Live session, “That’s the fight. Me and Devin is the fight at 140.” Haney, following a successful title defense against Vasiliy Lomachenko, has several contenders vying for his attention, and the hint of a move up in weight by Haney’s camp has struck the right chord with Hitchins.
Hitchins respects Haney’s skill but is confident in his ability to best him. Anticipating an inevitable showdown between the two, he has a single request - a fitting paycheck. “Get the check right, get the date and I’m pulling up,” he taunts, the gauntlet thrown, inviting Haney to meet him in the arena where their respective skills will determine the true champion.
