Teofimo Lopez Jr. has reportedly walked away from a clear path to the IBF super lightweight title, becoming the latest high-profile name linked to a potential move toward Zuffa Boxing.

The situation developed after Richardson Hitchins vacated his IBF title and moved up to welterweight, leaving the sanctioning body scrambling to organize a fight for the vacant belt. Lopez, ranked among the top available contenders, had emerged as a leading option to face Lindolfo Delgado.

However, despite the opportunity to fight for another world title, Lopez has opted not to pursue the bout. The decision follows his loss to Shakur Stevenson earlier this year and signals a shift in focus toward campaigning at 147 pounds.

The IBF’s plans have already been complicated by unavailable contenders. Oscar Duarte is unable to face Delgado due to shared team connections, while Keyshawn Davis is committed to his May 16 bout with Nahir Albright. With Lopez now stepping aside, the organization is expected to move further down its rankings to finalize a title fight.

Lopez’s decision reflects a broader trend as already several fighters linked to Zuffa Boxing have begun stepping away from traditional title routes.
