The previously reported crossroads clash between Tenshin Nasukawa and Juan Francisco Estrada is now official, with the pair set to headline an April 11 Amazon Prime-Japan tripleheader at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.
The bout will serve as a WBC 118lbs title eliminator, with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger to reigning champion Takuma Inoue. Teiken Promotions formally announced the event at a press conference in Tokyo, attended by Nasukawa and fellow local fighters Tomoya Tsuboi and Kyosuke Takami.
Nasukawa (7-1, 2 KOs) enters the fight following the first defeat of his combat sports career, a points loss to Takuma Inoue for the vacant WBC bantamweight title last November. “I lost for the first time last time, and since then I’ve had a lot of time and struggles,” Nasukawa admitted. “But I want to make a strong comeback and show everyone a good performance… I’m going to get revenge.”
Estrada (45-4, 28 KOs), a former two-division champion, will make his first trip to Japan. His lineal reign at 115lbs lasted from April 2019 until a knockout loss to Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez in June 2024. Estrada has fought once since, earning a 10-round unanimous decision over Karim Arce last June.
The co-feature sees Tomoya Tsuboi (3-0, 2 KOs) face former WBC 108lbs titleholder Pedro Guevara (43-5-2, 22 KOs) in a key 115lbs contest. Also on the card, former titlists Kyosuke Takami (10-1, 8 KOs) and Angel Ayala (18-1, 8 KOs) meet in a flyweight redemption bout.
