The scheduled lightweight bout between Floyd Schofield and Joseph “JoJo” Diaz on November 8 in Fort Worth, Texas, has been officially called off after Schofield suffered a right wrist injury during training.

Initially Schofield was set to face former world champion Diaz in a 10-round co-feature at Dickies Arena, part of the card headlined by Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Erickson Lubin. The 21-year-old from Austin sustained a Grade 2 sprain with minor ligament damage on October 23, prompting his withdrawal on medical advice.

In a statement, Golden Boy Promotions confirmed the news: “Floyd Schofield Jr. sustained a Grade 2 sprain to his right wrist, which included minor ligament damage. Following medical evaluation and on the advice of his team, Schofield has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz on Saturday, Nov. 8. Golden Boy wishes him a full and speedy recovery.”

It remains uncertain whether the matchup will be rescheduled once Schofield recovers. Despite the setback, the November 8 card in Fort Worth will proceed as planned. In the main event, Vergil Ortiz Jr. defends his interim WBC super welterweight title against Erickson Lubin, while Eric Priest meets Esneiker Correa in a middleweight bout on the undercard.
