Four-division world champion Roy Jones Jr. believes that even in today’s era, few could match his prime, not even Terence Crawford, the current undisputed super-middleweight king.

Jones said he has great respect for Crawford, who recently defeated Canelo Alvarez to become a five-weight world champion and the first three-division undisputed titleholder of the four-belt era. However, the former IBF super-middleweight champion (1993–1996) insists that Crawford would have struggled to handle his unique blend of speed and unpredictability.

“I like Terence, he’s a very good fighter, but Terence grew up on Roy Jones Jr.,” Jones said. “It’s hard to beat Roy Jones if you don’t fully understand him yet. He’d have been something to deal with for a few rounds, but I was much faster than 90% of people I fought. With my speed and precision, I would’ve come out on top.”

Jones also shared his thoughts on Crawford’s future, suggesting the 38-year-old might pursue a sixth world title at middleweight. “He may want to go and get a middleweight title because he skipped that division. He might go back to close the gap, like I wish I’d done with cruiserweight.”
