Devin Haney appears set for a welterweight unification fight on May 30 in Brooklyn, with Rolando Romero claiming the deal for the bout is already finalized.

Haney, the former undisputed lightweight champion, moved up through the divisions in recent years. After capturing the super-lightweight title with a win over Regis Prograis and defeating Jose Ramirez at a catchweight, he stepped into the welterweight division and beat Brian Norman Jr. last November to claim the WBO world title and become a three-division champion.

With Haney now holding one of the division’s belts, potential unification fights were on the table with IBF champion Lewis Crocker, WBA champion Rolando Romero, or a rematch with WBC titleholder Ryan Garcia. It appears Romero has stepped forward to take the fight.

Romero announced on social media that his side of the agreement is complete. “No more ball back in this court or that court. I’m signed sealed and delivered. Big boy deal. The Haneys have always been soft and full of lies. I’m going to end y’all for good,” he wrote, alongside a video mocking Haney’s punching power.

According to Pro Box TV, Bill Haney, confirmed the fight is expected to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on May 30, pending an official announcement. Romero captured the WBA title with an upset win over Ryan Garcia in May last year before later being upgraded to full champion when Jaron Ennis vacated the belt.
