A lively crowd packed into the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio as Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Lamont Roach met in a high-stakes WBC interim light welterweight title bout. With Cruz looking to stay in line for a full title opportunity and Roach hunting for a breakthrough win, the matchup carried serious implications for both fighters.
Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Lamont Roach fought to a majority draw after 12 rounds, allowing Cruz to retain his WBC interim light welterweight title. Cruz started strong and dropped Roach in round three with a clean right hand, controlling the first half of the fight. The momentum shifted late, as Roach surged back while Cruz visibly faded. A point deduction against Cruz in round seven for a low blow also played a role in the final totals. Scores were 115–111 for Cruz and two cards of 113–113. Roach leaves with frustration, as a win would have positioned him for a shot at Subriel Matias or other major opportunities at 140 or 135.
