Jean Pascal, who was infected with the COVID-19 virus at the beginning of January, is entirely recovered, as he himself confirmed on his social media accounts. His physician has given him the all-clear, and he will begin rigorous training again.
The postponed "No Limit" event will now take place on March 16 at Place Bell in Laval, Canada, as two-time world champion Pascal (36-6-1, 20 KOs) battles Germany's Michael Eifert (11-1, 4 KOs) to determine the mandatory challenger for IBF World Light Heavyweight title.
Pascal began fighting professionally in 2005. The well-liked Canadian had four successful defenses after defeating Adrian Diaconu to win the WBC championship in 2009.
But defeats to Dmitry Bivol, Bernard Hopkins, and Sergey Kovalev hinted that his time at the top was over. To his great credit, Pascal, at 40, has resurrected his career by defeating Fanlong Meng most recently, and Marcus Browne.
His opponent, Eifert is far less experienced. The German has only seldom competed outside of his native nation since turning professional in June 2018. In order to put himself in a position to face an eliminator, the 25-year-old has won the German national championship as well as an IBF regional title.
The co-main event features popular Mathieu "G-Time" Germain (21-2-1, 9 KOs) against Steven Wilcox (24-3-1, 7 KOs).
