Regis Prograis has officially announced his retirement following his unanimous decision defeat to Conor Benn at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

The Louisiana fighter confirmed after the bout that the decision had already been made before fight night. “Going into this fight I knew I was going to retire… this was going to be my last fight but I just didn’t tell anybody,” Prograis revealed, bringing an end to a career that saw him become a two-time world champion.

Prograis also admitted he entered the contest carrying an injury, validating pre-fight rumours he had previously denied. “The rumours… that was true. I was terrified. I didn’t know if it was going to hold up,” he said, adding that he had considered withdrawing multiple times, including on the day of the fight.

Despite those doubts, he pushed through to face Benn in front of a packed stadium, describing the experience as a fitting farewell. “This was a great fight for my last fight… I couldn’t ask for a better going away party. This was a perfect ending to my story.”

Prograis leaves the sport having shared the ring with top names across multiple divisions, including Josh Taylor, Jose Zepeda, Devin Haney and Joseph Diaz, closing the chapter on a career defined by high-level competition and championship success. Enjoy your retirement, champ!
