The Dec. 19 Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua event in Miami has undergone a shake-up, with Anderson Silva now set to face Tyron Woodley after Chris Weidman withdrew through injury. Most Valuable Promotions confirmed the switch while unveiling a deep undercard for the Netflix-streamed blockbuster at the Kaseya Center.
Silva previously lost a close decision to Paul in 2022 but now meets another familiar name from the YouTuber-boxer’s past. Woodley was defeated twice by Paul, first by split decision and then by a devastating knockout in their 2021 rematch. Despite the late change, Silva calls the new matchup an opportunity to “do a good job” and honor the sport.
Woodley, a former UFC welterweight champion, enters the six-round cruiserweight bout seeking his first win in a boxing ring, framing the moment as one “where legends are born.”
The co-main event remains unchanged, with unified super featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner defending her titles against Leila Beaudoin in a historic 12-round, three-minute-per-round contest. The preliminary card also stays largely intact, featuring Cherneka “Sugar Neekz” Johnson defending her undisputed bantamweight crown against Amanda Galle, Yokasta Valle putting her WBC strawweight belt on the line versus Yadira Bustillos, and Avious Griffin meeting Justin Cardona. Two-time Brazilian Olympian Keno Marley is slated for his pro debut in a cruiserweight four-rounder.
One bout that has been removed is the WBA super lightweight title fight between Gary Antuanne Russell and Andy Hiraoka.
