Odel Kamara is leaving the amateur ranks and turning professional after a strong run with Team GB and Salisbury Amateur Boxing Club.

The 21-year-old Liverpool fighter built a standout amateur résumé, winning seven national titles and multiple international medals. His biggest achievement came last year, when he captured bronze at the World Championships.

Kamara had been viewed as one of Britain’s strong medal hopes for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, but he has now chosen to begin his professional career instead. His athleticism and exciting style had already attracted interest from managers and promoters.

British boxing manager Sam Jones announced that he has signed Kamara to a management deal. “If you know boxing you know this man is going to the very top,” Jones wrote, adding that news on Kamara’s promotional deal and professional debut will follow in the coming weeks.

Kamara also thanked those who helped him during his amateur career. “Want to thank all the coaches, staff, and boxers at GB Boxing for making my time on the squad so memorable,” he wrote. “I loved every second of representing my country.”
