Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs), the champion of the IBF, WBA, and WBO, has received a draft contract from the management of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) to face him in March for the title.
“We’ve sent them a draft contract; that’s where we’re at. Listen, it’s gotta be sorted out very, very quickly now because the time is against us,” told Frank Warren reportedly to talkSPORT Fight Night.
What's remarkable is that, unlike with Anthony Joshua, Fury hasn't given Usyk a week to accept and sign the contract.
The only opponent to whom Fury gave a deadline, was Joshua, which suggests that Tyson did not feel confident enough about winning the fight to negotiate normally. This could also mean that Fury is sufficiently assured to want to fight Oleksandr.
Usyk and his team must definitely move quickly if the fight against Fury is to take place in March as planned since they have only two months to review the draft contract.
