In the wake of a controversial victory, Social Media Star KSI has dismissed the idea of a rematch with Joe Fournier. This decision follows his knockout victory last Saturday at OVO Arena Wembley, where KSI floored Fournier in the second round. The bout has come under scrutiny as several replays highlighted a potentially illegal elbow strike by KSI, leading to Fournier’s knockout.
Following the fight, Fournier’s team lodged an appeal with the sanctioning body, the Professional Boxing Association. They contest the legality of KSI’s knockout punch, asserting it was an elbow strike rather than a legal punch. “If it’s a no-contest, fine. I’ll be pissed if it’s a disqualification, because I didn’t intentionally try to hit him with my forearm or my elbow or whatever,” KSI expressed during The MMA Hour. Regardless of the outcome of the appeal, he insists he has no desire for a rematch.
KSI spoke candidly about his performance and his thoughts on Fournier’s appeal. He expressed his certainty about his dominance during the bout, “I was beating him and it was easy. It was easier than I thought it would be. At least now Joe Fournier doesn’t look like a loser. He can be like, ‘Ah, because of the whole no-contest, it doesn’t really count.’ Even though I was all over him, but yeah.”
With the Fournier fight potentially behind him, KSI eyes a much-anticipated challenge against Tommy Fury. He voiced out the public's sentiment, stating, “The public are like, ‘We don’t care. You beat him anyway, so fight Tommy Fury’ People want to see me get tested.” This clearly shows that regardless of the appeal's outcome, KSI is ready to step up his game and face tougher opponents in the ring.
