In a surprising turn in the heavyweight boxing scene, Junior Fa recently announced his retirement and withdrew from the anticipated May 25th fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov. Taking Fa’s spot, Serbian national champion Miljan Rovcanin aims to disrupt the “Lion’s” comeback at the Gervais Auto Center in Shawinigan.
Rovcanin, with a record of 27-3 and 18 KOs, is no stranger to tough opponents, having faced formidable punchers like Agit Kabayel at the 2018 European Championship and U.S. hopeful Jared Anderson two years ago. Since those fights, the 6’4”, 240-pound Rovcanin has remained in top form, winning his last three bouts and actively training in the gym as the main sparring partner for contender Filip Hrgovic. His dedication in the gym led him to quickly accept the challenge against Makhmudov, ranked 12th by the IBF and 14th by the WBC.
Marc Ramsay, an esteemed trainer based in Montreal, speaks highly of Rovcanin, describing him as a seasoned fighter who combines significant size with powerful striking abilities.
The excitement continues with a packed fight card. Christian "Solide" Mbilli faces off against the robust English fighter Mark "Kid Dynamite" Heffron in what is expected to be a fierce main event. Ranked highly across multiple boxing organizations, Mbilli aims to expand his influence in the British market, enhancing his visibility and advancing toward a world championship bout.
Meanwhile, EOTTM's Venezuelan prodigy Albert Ramirez (18-0, 15 KOs) is set to contend with Adam Deines (23-2-1, 14 KOs) in a crucial light heavyweight eliminator for the title currently held by Artur Beterbiev. Additional fights feature rising Quebec stars like Wilkens Mathieu, Christopher Guerrero, Alexandre Gaumont, Jhon Orobio, and Moreno Fendero.
