Naoya Inoue has revealed that featherweight will mark the final chapter of his career.
The undefeated four-division champion, who currently reigns at super bantamweight, confirmed that 126lbs will be his limit. “I think featherweight will be my final challenge,” Inoue said. “After the Junto Nakatani fight, and one other fight I’ve wanted to do, my last challenge will be in featherweight.”
Inoue’s rise through the divisions has been defined by speed and dominance. From winning his first world title at 108lbs to becoming undisputed at both bantamweight and super bantamweight, he has consistently taken on and defeated top opposition, including victories over Nonito Donaire, Stephen Fulton and Marlon Tapales.
Despite his achievements, the 122lbs king is not rushing the move. “I’m not going to move up right away,” he explained, adding that his goal is to face whoever holds the titles at featherweight when the time comes. “I’d like to decide [a fight] with the champion at that time.”
