American heavyweights Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller and Michael “The Bounty” Hunter will meet on September 11 in Las Vegas, topping a showcase card two nights before Canelo Alvarez–Terence Crawford at Allegiant Stadium. The matchup was circulated by The Ring and positioned as the week’s stateside heavyweight centerpiece.
Miller, 37, returns after a turbulent stretch: a 10th-round stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois, a draw with Andy Ruiz in August 2024, and a scuttled date with Fabio Wardley that saw Justis Huni step in. A shoulder injury was cited at the time, and Miller recently claimed Jared Anderson withdrew from a proposed fight while Deontay Wilder declined. The Las Vegas assignment offers Miller a chance to reset - under a brighter spotlight and closer to home.

Hunter, also 37 and based in Las Vegas, has battled inactivity as much as opponents, squeezing in three fights last year after just one in 2023 and none in 2022. His lone defeat came to Oleksandr Usyk at cruiserweight in 2017; at heavyweight he’s 12-0-2 in his last 14, with scalps that include handing first losses to Martin Bakole and Sergey Kuzmin. Hunter had chased a Kubrat Pulev bout for a version of the WBA title, venting recently on social media about stalled talks.
So, winner revives momentum and a ranking push; loser faces a longer road back.
