Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Manny Pacquiao 2 is moving again - and this time, there’s real progress behind the scenes.

After weeks of confusion, a major obstacle has reportedly been removed from the contract. The controversial “Cancer Contract” clause which had stalled negotiations is now being taken out, clearing the way for talks to continue. It’s the clearest sign yet that the long-discussed rematch is back on track.

The disagreement had centered around one key issue: what kind of fight this would be. Pacquiao never wavered. “A real fight or nothing,” he insisted publicly, pushing for a fully sanctioned professional bout. Mayweather, on the other hand, had described it as an exhibition.

Now, momentum is shifting again. Pacquiao’s team, led by Jas Mathur, appears to be driving negotiations, with a major streaming deal also in play. Even platforms closely linked to Mayweather have acknowledged movement, suggesting both sides are edging closer to an agreement.

There’s still one question hanging over everything - whether Mayweather’s unbeaten record will be on the line. As former opponent Andre Berto put it: “If he is going to put that record up… that’s something everyone is going to want to watch.”

For now, nothing is officially signed. But with the key contractual issue resolved, the biggest rematch of this era suddenly feels closer than it has in years.
