Liam Davies, the boxing sensation from Telford, is creating a significant stir in the boxing world. With an impeccable record of 13-0 and five championship belts under his name, Davies is set to step into the ring against Jason Cunningham this Saturday, defending his British, European, and WBC International super bantamweight titles. The contest will also see Cunningham's WBO International title on the line, presenting Davies with a shot at his sixth championship belt.

Turning professional just five years ago, 27-year-old Davies has steadily made a name for himself, already earning the English and WBC International Silver titles. Despite his impressive run, widespread recognition has somewhat eluded him, a fact he attributes to his under-the-radar nature. However, far from being disheartened, Davies channels the lack of acclaim into motivation, eschewing fame for the more tangible rewards of success.

In a revealing interview on the Unibet Lowdown, Davies opened up about his journey, future ambitions, potential opponents, and his upcoming fight. He candidly shares, “Followers and that doesn’t interest me, I am not chasing fame. I am chasing a little bit of fortune, then I’m off! I am happy with my life, I just want repaying for all the hard work I’ve put in.”

Davies remains unfazed by the sport's politics, saying, "People are getting made to be this, that, or the other, and everyone’s face fits in something though. Maybe mine doesn’t. How are they going to stop me when I keep winning? I keep proving them all wrong, and there are only so many times they can shut the gate until it opens.”

Focused on his performance, Davies is confident of his path in boxing, driven by a personal vision of success rather than public acclaim. He concludes, “As long as people who mean most to me see that I’m alright, I will sleep well at night.”
