Ryan Garcia wasted no time naming his next target after delivering a commanding performance to defeat Mario Barrios and capture the WBC welterweight title at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Garcia dropped Barrios in the opening round and controlled the fight from there, earning a unanimous decision victory with scores of 120-107, 119-108, and 118-109. The win marked the realization of Garcia’s long-stated ambition to become a world champion.

At the post-fight press conference, Garcia made his intentions clear. “You know who I want, Shakur Stevenson let’s go. I want to be a great champion. I’m not scared. I’ll fight Devin Haney, I’ll fight Shakur Stevenson. Let’s go,” he said.

Garcia also outlined what he believes would separate him in a potential showdown with Stevenson. “You’ve got to have some kind of punching power to get me off you. I’m not going to hit him light. I want that fight. Shakur let’s get it. I want that work.”

Stevenson recently became a four-division world champion by defeating Teofimo Lopez via unanimous decision at 140 pounds. While Stevenson has indicated that any move to 147 would require a rehydration clause, he has also expressed willingness to meet at a 144-pound catchweight.
