Alex Camponovo, the leader of CBN Promotions, understands the tough task ahead for Miguel Madueno as he faces off against 2020 Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davis on Saturday, July 6. Despite the challenges, Camponovo is optimistic about Madueno's chances in their upcoming 10-round bout.
Madueno, aged 25, enters the fight with confidence following his victory over Justin Pauldo by split decision in February on ProBox TV. In a previous bout, he moved up to the junior welterweight division to take on Steve Claggett but ended up losing by unanimous decision. On the other hand, Davis, also aged 25, has been steadily climbing up the rankings and made a statement with his February win over former two-division champion Jose Pedraza. However, Davis’s October win against Nahir Albright was changed to a no-contest after testing positive for marijuana.

Camponovo expresses faith in Madueno's abilities by saying, "We accepted this fight because I believe that Madueno has what it takes to win. His preparation for this fight has been exceptional." Despite Madueno's past setbacks in higher profile matches like his loss to former champion Jezzrel Corrales in 2022, Camponovo sees his victory over Pauldo as a significant turning point. He thinks that if Madueno had more experience as an amateur and received better coaching early on, his full potential could have been realized.
"Madueno is a hidden talent from Mexico. It took me some time to reshape his career. The great thing is that he's open to learning and knows where he wants to be. He made changes in his training and coaching to progress and get better."
Madueno, known for his powerful punches, showcases a stark contrast to Davis’s refined boxing style. Camponovo mentioned, "Davis is currently among the top fighters out there. Madueno is all set." While Madueno might not excel in technical finesse, his relentless pressure could be the key to causing an upset. Camponovo concluded by saying, "If [Davis] can figure him out early on, anything can happen in the ring. I hope that's the case for this bout. If [Madueno] manages to catch you off guard, all bets are off."
