Keyshawn Davis believes the upcoming rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will look very different from their 2015 showdown - but he still gives Mayweather the edge.
The two legends will renew their rivalry in September at The Sphere in Las Vegas, 11 years after Mayweather earned a unanimous decision victory in the so-called “Fight of the Century.” Now aged 49 and 47 respectively, they will headline a major Netflix event in one of 2026’s biggest boxing nights.
Speaking to FightHype, Davis described the rematch as “legendary” but acknowledged the passage of time. “I feel like it’s going to be a different fight, they are at two different ages, they are well past their retirements,” Davis said. “They were both retired for a long time and I think that it’s going to be a different fight, so the fans are definitely going to be tuning in.”
Despite expecting changes, the former WBO lightweight champion sided with Mayweather based on their history. “Floyd [has the advantage], for sure, he already won the first time. You are only as good as your last performance [against each other], [in the] last performance, Floyd won,” Davis stated.
He also noted that both men have remained somewhat active - Pacquiao coming off a recent fight against a younger opponent and Mayweather staying busy in exhibitions. “Both of their reflexes and timing still ain’t there but… I can only judge off their last fight,” Davis added.
