Eddie Hearn believes Anthony Joshua is in the best form of his career, asserting that Joshua is a "100 times better fighter" now than he was during his memorable 2017 bout with Wladimir Klitschko. Hearn is confident that Joshua has developed technically and mentally since then, which should give him the edge over IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois when they face off on Saturday night.
Despite Joshua’s improvements, Hearn acknowledges that Joshua, now in his mid-30s, has had a long and taxing career. Still, Hearn attributes Joshua’s evolution to his partnership with trainer Ben Davison, who joined Joshua’s team last December before his fight with Otto Wallin. While Joshua has only had two fights since teaming up with Davison, including victories over Wallin and MMA fighter Francis Ngannou, Hearn believes those performances reflect Joshua’s progress under his new trainer.

"When you watch back all those fights and the Klitschko fight, it almost makes me laugh a little bit about how far he’s got with the actual knowledge and ability that he had at the time," Hearn said. He pointed out that while Joshua fought with "pure heart, rawness, and brute force" back then, today, he is more skilled in areas like footwork, defense, and tactical awareness.
Joshua himself seems confident in his approach to the Dubois fight, though he hasn’t shared many details. He suggested that he has a clear game plan and knows exactly what he needs to do to win on Saturday. However, given Dubois' knockout power, Joshua may start cautiously to avoid getting caught early.
