Tyson Fury has made it clear that a long-awaited clash with Anthony Joshua is firmly on his agenda, provided he gets past Arslanbek Makhmudov this weekend in London.

Fury returns to action after more than a year out, entering the bout as the favourite despite Makhmudov’s known power. The expectation is that if he performs anywhere near the level shown in his competitive fights with Oleksandr Usyk, he should come through the test successfully.

Looking ahead Fury revealed that Joshua sits at the top of his hit list, emphasizing that the fight is about legacy rather than titles. “It’s not really about a belt anymore… I want to make that Anthony Joshua fight that was supposed to have happened for the last 10 years,” he said, while also outlining plans to stay active with three fights this year.

This is a shift from Fury’s previous stance, having often played down the matchup despite consistent fan demand. Early discussions are reportedly underway for a potential fight later this year, with Joshua expected to take an interim bout before any meeting.
