The planned defense of Scotland's Taylor's WBO junior welterweight championship had to be postponed due to a tear in his foot's arch. The second matchup between Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) and Catterall (26-1, 13 KOs) was scheduled to occur on March 4 at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.

It is anticipated that Taylor will be sidelined for four to six weeks, but it is yet unknown whether the entire bout will be postponed or if England's Catterall would be given a stay-busy fight. Depending on the extent of Taylor's injury and the timing of his return to the ring, it's possible that an interim WBO title bout will be made available, though, at this early point of the process, it's not confirmed.

Taylor and Catterall haven't squared off since their extremely contentious first match in February of 2022. Taylor overcame an early disadvantage and a knockdown in the eighth round to come back and win by split decision. The majority of spectators believed that Catterall was denied an undisputed victory for the junior welterweight belt.

Taylor-Catterall plans were originally eyed for November 2022 but were delayed until the first quarter of 2023 due to venue availability issues. After Eubank Jr.-Smith was added to the schedule by Sky Sports Box Office, a working date of February 4 was dropped in order to avoid holding two pay-per-view bouts within a 14-day period.
