Moses Itauma is expected to fight twice more this year, with promoter Frank Warren outlining plans for both a world title challenge and a United States debut before the end of 2026.
Itauma strengthened his reputation as one of boxing’s leading heavyweight prospects with a knockout win over Jermaine Franklin in March. He is now scheduled to headline London’s O2 Arena on August 8 against an opponent yet to be confirmed, after his original date was moved to avoid a clash with Anthony Joshua’s July 25 return.
Warren says the August opponent will be announced within the next two weeks, while also confirming that Itauma’s world title ambitions remain active. “Moses is gonna fight for the world title this year,” Warren said, adding that the 21-year-old will face a world champion before the end of the year.
Murat Gassiev has been linked to the August fight and has called for the matchup, offering a possible route to a title opportunity if the heavyweight belt situation opens up. Itauma is also highly ranked across the sanctioning bodies, including number one with the WBO and WBA.
Warren also plans to bring Itauma to the United States in November or December. He said the fight would need to be significant because it would serve as Itauma’s in-person introduction to the American market.
With the WBO expected to call Itauma as mandatory challenger, the winner of Fabio Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois could also come into play.
