The IBA World Championships are underway in Dubai, bringing together more than 400 amateur boxers from over 100 countries in one of the sport’s most prestigious and lucrative tournaments. Held every two years since 1974, the event runs from December 2 to December 13 and showcases many of the world’s elite amateurs.
This year’s field features 13 weight divisions, from minimumweight (46–48kg) up to super heavyweight (+92kg). Among the standout names is Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov, the two-time Olympic gold medallist who returned to the world stage after capturing his second Olympic title in Paris last year.

What truly sets this year’s tournament apart is the staggering prize pool. The IBA has allocated more than $8 million in prize money. Gold medallists will earn $300,000, split between the athlete (50%), their trainer (25%), and their national delegation (25%). Silver medallists receive $150,000, while bronze medallists take home $75,000.
