Jack Catterall is gearing up for a tough showdown with Regis Prograis on October 26 at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena. Riding high from his decision win over Josh Taylor in February, Catterall knows that Prograis is coming in with something to prove. After a lackluster win over Danielito Zorrilla in 2023 and a rough loss to Devin Haney, Prograis is looking to remind fans why he was once a two-time world champion.
Catterall’s strength lies in his ability to control pace and range, a skill that Prograis will need to counter if he wants to get inside and land his power shots. Known for his explosiveness, Prograis can still be dangerous when he sets his feet, and he has a history of performing well against fellow southpaws like Terry Flanagan and Jose Zepeda. Catterall is aware of the threat, noting that “the Regis I’m fighting next is probably a hungry, driven Regis.”
Reflecting on his past encounters with Prograis, Catterall acknowledged the respect between them but remains focused on the task at hand. “He’s hungry to become a three-time champion,” Catterall said in Matchroom Boxing’s documentary, Make the Days Count. “He lost his belt in the last fight, so I think he’ll be super motivated to get back on track.”
