Eddie Hearn has again dismissed Dana White’s claim that he is involved in Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury, saying the Zuffa Boxing boss had “absolutely nothing” to do with the fight negotiations.
White recently claimed he helped negotiate the contracts and knows where the heavyweight showdown will take place. Hearn pushed back hard, saying the deal was worked on for months between himself, Sela and the legal teams involved.
“Dana White had nothing to do with the fight negotiations,” Hearn said. “For him to sit there and say, ‘Eddie Hearn never negotiated the fight contract,’ either he actually has no clue what he’s talking about regarding a fight negotiation or a fight contract in boxing, or he’s just a compulsive liar.”
Hearn also said the contract contains a clause preventing Zuffa, TKO, Dana White or any related party from having promotional involvement in the event. According to Hearn, the same type of clause also exists on Fury’s side.
The venue remains another major issue. White has claimed he knows where the fight will happen, but Hearn says the current contract states that Joshua-Fury must take place in the UK. He added that Joshua, Matchroom, Frank Warren, Spencer Brown and Fury’s side all believe the fight should be staged in Britain.
Hearn did leave the door open for talks if Turki Alalshikh wants to move the event internationally, but made it clear he does not see White as the man driving those discussions. “All he is, is a hotel booker,” Hearn said.
