Bill Haney says Devin Haney is willing to fight Shakur Stevenson, but not with a catchweight or rehydration clause attached.
Stevenson has been linked with a possible move to Zuffa Boxing, where the super lightweight division is not currently recognized. That could leave him choosing between lightweight and welterweight if he signs, with Haney now holding the WBO title at 147lbs.
Stevenson has previously said he would only face a welterweight under specific conditions: either with a rehydration clause or at a 144lbs catchweight. Bill Haney has now made it clear that Devin’s side would not accept either option.
According to Bill, Haney would “absolutely” fight Stevenson but only at the full welterweight limit. That makes the condition simple: if Stevenson wants Haney, the fight has to be at 147lbs.
Haney became a three-division world champion last November by defeating Brian Norman Jr. for the WBO welterweight title. Stevenson, meanwhile, became a four-division champion in January by beating Teofimo Lopez for the WBO super lightweight title. The fight remains one of boxing’s most interesting matchups, but the weight terms may decide whether it actually happens.
