Devin Haney has hit back at Richardson Hitchins after the unbeaten contender questioned whether Haney would ever agree to fight him.

Hitchins said in a recent interview that he wants Haney “so bad” and claimed the WBO welterweight champion has no interest in facing him now that both fighters are at 147lbs.

Haney responded on social media, dismissing Hitchins’ résumé and pointing to his canceled fight with Oscar Duarte earlier this year.

“Keyshawn better than him,” Haney wrote. “This dude is the king of hypothetical wins while guys actually out here fighting. He pulled out the day of a fight. We are not the same.”

Hitchins had also criticized Haney’s record, arguing that several of his wins have been overrated, while still giving him credit for the Vasiliy Lomachenko victory.

Haney chose not to directly address those comments, instead focusing on Hitchins’ withdrawal from the Duarte fight. Hitchins later explained that years of making 140lbs, along with the IBF’s rehydration rule, had left him drained and made the move to welterweight necessary.

Hitchins is now set to make his Zuffa Boxing debut against Ricardo Salas on July 26 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. Haney, meanwhile, remains tied to the WBO title picture, with Keyshawn Davis expected to be his mandatory challenger.
