Devin Haney has publicly welcomed a possible fight with Keyshawn Davis after the WBO moved Davis to No. 1 in its welterweight rankings.
Davis had already been pushing for the matchup, including exchanges with Haney’s father, trainer and manager Bill Haney. Now the talk has more weight behind it, with the WBO placing Davis directly behind Haney at 147lbs and creating a possible mandatory route.
Haney reacted quickly after seeing the update. “Let’s do it, Keyshawn,” he wrote on X, giving the clearest signal yet that he is open to the fight.
Haney is coming off a win over Brian Norman Jr., while Davis recently beat Nahir Albright in Norfolk after moving up from lightweight and junior welterweight. The move to 147lbs may suit Davis better after past struggles on the scales.
There have been industry whispers about Haney potentially heading to Zuffa Boxing, but reports suggest there is currently no major obstacle preventing Haney-Davis from being negotiated. Now the question is simple: will this fight actually happen?
