Eddie Hearn may have let slip boxing’s next circus blockbuster. Speaking at Thursday’s Eubank-Benn press event, the Matchroom boss name-dropped a “Jake Paul-Gervonta Davis fight in November,” provided Paul defeats Julio César Chávez Jr. on 28 June. Hearn’s casual aside - “We know that Gervonta is going to fight Jake Paul in November” - was picked up by microphones and later reported by talkSPORT, fuelling speculation that Saudi or U.S. backers have already pencilled in a date.

The mooted timeline would require a flawless summer for both men. Paul must navigate Chávez, a former WBC middleweight champion whose size and experience eclipse anyone the YouTuber-turned-boxer has faced since Mike Tyson. Davis first needs to settle his controversial draw with Lamont Roach; their lightweight title rematch is tentatively aimed at July or August. Only clean wins on both sides would keep November viable.

Commercially the matchup is undeniable: Davis remains America’s top traditional PPV draw, while Paul commands a crossover audience that shattered streaming records against Tyson. Yet questions abound - most notably weight. Tank has never boxed above 140 lbs, whereas Paul now campaigns at a 190-lb cruiser limit. Initial industry chatter suggests a contracted weight between 150 and 155 lbs, though neither camp has confirmed terms.

Whether Hearn’s “leak” was accidental or strategic hype, the reaction was swift. Purists blasted the idea as a cash-grab mismatch; Paul’s business partner Nakisa Bidarian called it “the only U.S. bout that could out-gross Tank vs anyone else.”
