A long-delayed junior middleweight title fight between Sebastian Fundora and Keith Thurman is back on course, with both sides now targeting an early 2026 date. The bout was originally planned for October, but talks were halted before contracts were finalized when Fundora suffered a hand injury that forced a postponement.
Fundora has established himself as one of boxing’s most unconventional champions at 154 pounds. The 27-year-old, nicknamed “The Towering Inferno,” stands 6-foot-5½ and uses his size and high-volume style to overwhelm opponents, entering the rescheduled window off a seventh-round TKO of Tim Tszyu in their July rematch.
Thurman returned to action in March after more than three years away, moving up to junior middleweight and stopping Brock Jarvis in three rounds in Australia.
If finalized, for Fundora, it’s another chance to validate his championship run; for Thurman, it represents a late-career bid to become a two-division world champion.
