WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora has withdrawn from his scheduled October 25 title defense against Keith Thurman after suffering a hand injury during training camp. The bout, which was set to headline a pay-per-view card in Las Vegas, will be postponed, Premier Boxing Champions confirmed.
“Fundora sustained a hand injury during training, and we intend to reschedule the fight as soon as possible,” a PBC official said.
Fundora was preparing for his third title defense since winning the WBC belt in March 2024. The towering 154-pounder claimed the title after replacing an injured Thurman to defeat then-champion Tim Tszyu in a bloody majority decision. Since then, he’s recorded impressive stoppage victories over Chordale Booker and Tszyu in a rematch, positioning himself as a strong candidate for Fighter of the Year honors.
The postponement also affects the undercard, which was set to feature a super featherweight title clash between O’Shaquie Foster and Stephen Fulton, as well as a 154-pound contest between Jesus Ramos Jr. and Shane Mosley Jr. Both fights are expected to be rescheduled alongside the main event once Fundora’s recovery timeline is confirmed.
PBC already has a December 6 Prime Video pay-per-view headlined by Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz versus Lamont Roach Jr., meaning Fundora-Thurman may not return until early 2026.
