Early discussions have begun for a potential unification bout between Sebastian Fundora and Josh Kelly, with the fight positioned as part of a broader plan to move toward an undisputed champion at junior middleweight.

According to Eddie Hearn, conversations with Premier Boxing Champions are already underway, though still at an early stage. The proposed structure would see Fundora face Kelly, with the winner advancing toward a full unification clash - potentially against Jaron Ennis as he continues his run at 154 pounds. Hearn described the idea as a “natural” step, aiming to streamline the division toward a single champion.

Kelly is currently expected to return in a voluntary defense this summer, but the Fundora option has quickly emerged as a more significant opportunity.

From a stylistic standpoint, Fundora’s size creates a different challenge compared to opponents Kelly has previously faced. While Kelly has relied on movement and fast combinations, closing distance against Fundora requires sustained pressure, with risks once inside where Fundora is effective at short range.

No agreement has been finalized, but the willingness from both sides suggests momentum.
