Keyshawn Davis is sounding off after witnessing Gervonta “Tank” Davis fight to a surprising 12-round majority draw against Lamont Roach last Saturday night at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. According to Keyshawn, the WBA lightweight champ’s decision to take a knee in the ninth round – and not have it ruled a knockdown – came off as both “bizarre” and privileged. He’s also baffled that referee Steve Willis allowed Tank to walk over to his corner mid-round and have grease wiped from his eyes without consequence.

Keyshawn believes Roach actually did enough to earn the win, and now he’s putting both men on notice: neither one could get away with timeouts or free passes if they fought him. Davis thinks he can knock them both out if they ever square off. The 24-year-old recently grabbed the WBO lightweight belt with a fourth-round stoppage of Denys Berinchyk, and he hopes that hardware will entice Gervonta Davis, Roach, Vasily Lomachenko, or Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz into a fight. Critics say he’s too big a risk without enough reward - particularly since Keyshawn, known to rehydrate significantly, makes for a scary matchup in the ring.
For now, Keyshawn’s calling himself “the best at 135,” pointing to his jab, power, and size as reasons he’d outclass the rest of the division. He also argues that Tank’s ring antics wouldn’t fly against him. Of course, Davis acknowledges that top lightweights might not line up to fight someone so physically imposing and relatively unknown among casual fans. But if he can’t lure “Tank” or others to the negotiating table soon, Keyshawn says he’ll keep piling on wins until they can’t ignore him.
