Floyd Mayweather, having stepped away from professional boxing in August 2017 following a victory over Conor McGregor, has maintained his retirement stance, affirming that the McGregor fight would be his last. Despite retiring, Mayweather has continued to engage in exhibition matches that don’t affect his pristine 50-0 professional record.
But recently, he sparked excitement among fans with an Instagram post hinting at another upcoming exhibition bout, set to be held in Mexico with more details to be announced later this month.
Since his last professional match, Mayweather has participated in seven exhibition bouts, securing three wins, with the others being non-scored or declared no contests. His most recent exhibition bout against John Gotti III ended early due to excessive trash-talking.
This announcement comes amid renewed public disputes between Mayweather and Gervonta Davis and follows closely after Canelo Alvarez’s recent victory over Jaime Munguia, which reaffirmed Alvarez’s status in boxing—a sport where Mayweather also left a significant legacy, including a memorable victory over Alvarez himself ten years ago.
