Ezra Taylor will remain part of this Saturday’s Joseph Parker vs. Fabio Wardley card at the O2 Arena in London, with Steed Woodall stepping in on short notice after Lewis Edmondson withdrew from their scheduled British light-heavyweight title bout due to injury.

Woodall confirmed the late-notice opportunity, saying, “Yes, the fight was offered. I’ve never turned a fight down, so I wasn’t going to start now. I’m in shape and ready to go against the odds again.” The Birmingham native had been preparing for GBM’s eight-man super-middleweight tournament “The Heist” on November 8 in Hull before accepting the Taylor fight.

Woodall brings solid experience and resilience to the matchup. In June 2024, he shocked many by stopping former European champion Lerrone Richards in the sixth round. Though later halted in two by Callum Simpson in a British title bid earlier this year, he rebounded last month with a points win over Marcelo Fabian Bzowski at 171lbs.

For Taylor the fight represents another step forward after a competitive victory over former English champion Troy Jones in May. The Nottingham fighter has been steadily building momentum and was expected to face his toughest test against Edmondson before the late change.

While no title will now be at stake, Taylor-Woodall definitely adds intrigue to the Parker-Wardley undercard.
