Eddie Hearn says he would love to see Terence Crawford return for one more fight, with Jaron “Boots” Ennis as the opponent if the money and timing are right.

Crawford retired in December after defeating Canelo Alvarez and becoming boxing’s second three-weight undisputed champion. He walked away with his legacy secured, despite the possibility of a highly lucrative rematch with Canelo.

Hearn said Crawford did not sound like a fighter eager to come back when they spoke, especially after the physical toll of his final training camps.

“When I have been around him, I have kind of felt like, physically, he has checked out,” Hearn said. “He talks about his body a lot, he talks about how it broke down.”

Still, Hearn did not completely rule out the possibility. He said Crawford remains an elite competitor, and if the right challenge becomes big enough, anything can happen.

That challenge, in Hearn’s eyes, could be Ennis. The Matchroom promoter believes a future Crawford-Ennis fight would make sense if Boots grows into one of boxing’s biggest stars.

“If Boots can get himself into a position where he is a superstar of the sport and there is a huge amount of money for Crawford to fight him, we would love that fight,” Hearn said. “I think that they are two unbelievable fighters.”
