Eddie Hearn, the head of Matchroom Boxing, is envisioning a match-up between Ryan Garcia and WBC 140-pound champion Regis Prograis. Despite ongoing legal issues between Garcia and his promoter Golden Boy, Hearn believes the fight could materialize. “You’ve got Ryan Garcia if he wants to fight for the world title – we can walk straight into that fight next,” Hearn conveyed to Fight Hub TV.

Hearn clarified that he has never had any conversation with Garcia or his manager Lupe Valencia. But he did express his puzzlement about the public disagreements between Garcia and his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, on social media. Hearn went on to suggest that Garcia's team is shying away from a Prograis fight, considering it too challenging. In contrast, they seem more open to a fight against Rolly Romero, whom they perceive as a beatable opponent.

Prograis recently defended his title in a New Orleans bout against Danielito Zorrilla, which resulted in a split decision win. The match was marked by a historically low number of combined punches, as recorded by CompuBox. Post-match, Prograis admitted to his subpar performance, hinting that he may have overlooked Zorrilla due to anticipation of more high-profile opportunities. The super lightweight division is brimming with elite competitors including Garcia, Romero, Teofimo Lopez Jr., Josh Taylor, and Jose Ramirez. Prograis, following his fight with Zorrilla, initiated a FaceTime call and challenged the undisputed lightweight king, Devin Haney.
