Eddie Hearn says Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury is contractually set for the UK, and any move to Las Vegas or another US venue would require Joshua’s side to renegotiate.
The Matchroom promoter said there has been no formal request from Turki Alalshikh to move the fight outside Britain, despite growing speculation that Las Vegas could host the long-awaited heavyweight clash.
“If they want to change anything in the contract, we have to renegotiate the contract and start again,” Hearn said.
Joshua is scheduled to face Kristian Prenga on July 25, while Fury is expected to take an interim fight of his own, possibly on August 1. Hearn says the only thing that can stop Joshua-Fury this year is either man losing before they meet.
“I’m 100% confident it happens in 2026 unless someone gets beat,” Hearn said.
Hearn also rejected Dana White’s claim that he would promote the event. According to Hearn, the current contract states that Zuffa Boxing, White or anyone connected to them cannot be the promoter unless Joshua’s side agrees to change the deal.
“The only way Dana could have any involvement in the show is if we let him,” Hearn said. “And it’s not really how I’m feeling at the moment.”
A meeting between the different sides is expected next week to discuss the date, location and final structure. Hearn says he would be disappointed if the fight left the UK, but admitted that Alalshikh is paying for the event and could still push for a different deal.
