Dave Allen says Eddie Hearn has offered him another notable fight on one of the biggest cards of the year, but the Doncaster heavyweight must first win two lower-key bouts in June and July.

Allen was stopped in three rounds by Filip Hrgovic last month at Doncaster Rovers’ stadium, but he is already planning a quick return. He expects to fight a “journeyman-like opponent” on June 20 in Rotherham, then box again on July 25 at the Doncaster Dome.

If both fights go well, Allen says a bigger opportunity could follow. “Eddie has offered me a fight today on a massive card,” Allen told his Instagram followers. “Big fight as well, not as big as the Hrgovic one, but a big fight on a huge card.”

Allen admitted he needs time to think before committing. “I’ve got to win June and July first,” he said. “Probably box on June 20 and if I box well then I’ll probably do it.”

The 34-year-old has taken difficult fights throughout his career, facing names such as Hrgovic, Tony Yoka, Frazer Clarke, Dillian Whyte and Arslanbek Makhmudov. He has also earned well recently, with Hearn previously saying Allen made “well over £1m” across his fights with Johnny Fisher, Makhmudov and Hrgovic.

Allen still sounds torn on how long he wants to continue, saying some days he feels he could “fight on forever” and other days he feels the grind is getting harder. But one thing he ruled out clearly is bare-knuckle boxing, saying he is happier focusing on boxing, training and managing fighters.
