Eddie Hearn, the head of Matchroom Boxing, recently expressed interest in the potential collaboration between DAZN, the streaming platform he partners with, and Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), the prominent management company steered by Al Haymon. PBC boasts an impressive roster of top-tier fighters, including the likes of Gervonta Davis, Deontay Wilder, Errol Spence Jr., David Benavidez, and Jermell Charlo.
With the recent announcement that Showtime, PBC’s longstanding broadcasting ally, will discontinue boxing programming by the year’s end, PBC is on the hunt for a new platform to spotlight its fighters. Though Hearn refrained from confirming any ongoing discussions between DAZN and PBC, he was vocal about his enthusiasm for such a collaboration. DAZN currently holds content agreements with Golden Boy Promotions and Misfits Boxing, aside from Matchroom.
Hearn voiced his concerns for companies without a broadcaster, stating, “The most dangerous thing in boxing is to have a business without a broadcaster.” While acknowledging PBC’s strong brand and fighter lineup, he also highlighted the fighters’ potential worries about aligning with a promotional entity that guarantees a broadcasting agreement.
He emphasized DAZN’s status as the “global home of boxing” and conveyed his excitement at the prospect of PBC joining the platform. However, he believes that PBC might also be exploring opportunities with other broadcasters, including Amazon. Hearn expressed his confidence in PBC securing a suitable broadcasting deal due to their influential brand in the boxing community.
