Terence Crawford is drawing a hard line in the sand for a potential 2026 rematch with Canelo Alvarez and it comes with a staggering price tag. According to coach Bernie “Thaboxer” Davis, Crawford is demanding a guaranteed $100 million, insisting those are “Crawford’s words.” Whether a second fight happens now depends on whether Turki Alalshikh is willing to meet the Nebraska star’s asking price.

Crawford earned $50 million for his September win over Alvarez at Allegiant Stadium. With both fighters cautious, clinching often, and rarely taking risks, the matchup drew comparisons to the lukewarm 2015 Mayweather–Pacquiao spectacle. Critics argue the performance did little to justify doubling Crawford’s purse - and some say it should result in the opposite.

That sentiment appears to be shared by Chris Williams, who claims he would offer both fighters no more than $10 million each in a take-it-or-leave-it deal. He argues that neither Crawford nor Alvarez brought the fire needed to warrant another massive payday. Instead, he advocates shifting focus to rising super middleweights like Lester Martinez, Christian Mbilli, and Osleys Iglesias.

Complicating matters further is the current climate around Alvarez’s future opponents. A rematch with Crawford isn’t high on fan wish lists compared to potential clashes with David Benavidez, Jaron Ennis, Artur Beterbiev, or Dmitry Bivol. With the public pushing for fresh, competitive challenges, Crawford’s $100 million stance becomes even more of an obstacle.

For Crawford, though, the message is simple: pay the price, or the rematch doesn’t happen. As Davis put it, “If they don’t give him $100 million… it ain’t happening.”
