Chris Eubank Jr. is on track to make a full recovery from the medical issue that disrupted his preparation for last November’s rematch defeat to Conor Benn, according to promoter Ben Shalom. Eubank revealed after the unanimous decision loss that he endured a difficult training camp due to an undisclosed health problem.

Shalom confirmed that Eubank is now receiving proper medical care and that early signs have been encouraging. He explained that there was insufficient time between April and the eventual November fight date to fully address the issue, but that the situation has since improved significantly. While Eubank will not return to the ring until the problem is completely resolved, Shalom said current procedures point toward a full recovery.

A comeback later in the year remains possible, with Shalom suggesting a mid-year return at the super middleweight limit of 168 pounds. Both bouts with Benn were fought at 160 pounds and included a controversial rehydration clause that capped fight-night weight at 170 pounds.

Although Shalom does not believe the health issue was directly caused by the weight cut, he was critical of rehydration clauses and called for them to be removed from the sport. He warned that such restrictions can push fighters into dangerous decisions, arguing that stronger regulation is needed to protect boxers from unnecessary risk as Eubank looks toward a safer, healthier return in 2026.
