Carl Froch has revealed that discussions over a potential comeback fight with John Fury progressed further than many expected, with a seven-figure offer reportedly presented for the bout.

Froch ended his career with a decisive stoppage victory over fellow Brit George Groves at Wembley Stadium. While he has remained largely content in retirement, the former super-middleweight world champion admitted his competitive instincts have occasionally resurfaced when unusual opportunities have appeared.

The latest scenario emerged after a heated encounter involving Fury, the father of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, during a recent press conference. Fury took issue with past remarks made by Froch and publicly called him out for a fight, sparking talk that the clash could actually be arranged.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Froch on Fighting, Froch said behind-the-scenes discussions advanced to the point where broadcasters had shown interest in the bout. However, he claimed the negotiations stalled after Fury introduced additional demands, including having his son Tommy Fury appear on the same event.

According to Froch, the fight now appears unlikely to happen. He suggested Fury had been presented with the opportunity but ultimately talked his way out of the proposed seven-figure contest, leaving the potential matchup seemingly off the table.
