Principality Stadium officials have offered to host the proposed heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua if Wembley Stadium cannot accommodate the event’s planned late start.

Turki Alalshikh wants the all-British fight staged in the United Kingdom but timed to maximize the global television audience. A schedule designed around U.S. prime time could push the main event as late as 4 a.m. GMT.

That would require Wembley to receive special permission to remain open beyond its usual 11 p.m. curfew. If approval is not granted, the Welsh Rugby Union says Cardiff is ready to step in.

“We’d be delighted to host this fight,” a WRU spokesperson said. “We are very keen to attract more boxing to the stadium, which has a rich history in the sport.”

Principality Stadium has hosted late-night boxing before, including Joe Calzaghe vs Mikkel Kessler in 2007, which began at 2 a.m. Joshua has also fought there twice, defeating Carlos Takam in 2017 and Joseph Parker in 2018.

November has been discussed as the preferred date, though any event would need to fit around Wales’ rugby matches against Japan, New Zealand and Australia.
