Callum Smith is set to make his comeback on November 30 in an eight-round tune-up on the undercard of Sunny Edwards vs. Galal Yafai in Birmingham. Promoter Eddie Hearn has promised the 34-year-old light heavyweight contender a “big, big fight” in early 2025 if he emerges victorious.
Smith has been out of action since a one-sided loss to Artur Beterbiev in January, which marked his second career defeat. Hearn revealed that Smith, a former WBC super middleweight champion and Ring Magazine titlist, contemplated retirement after the loss but ultimately decided to return after realizing he still has unfinished business.

"Callum has done it all," Hearn said. "He’s fought at the highest level, but he still feels he’s got great performances left and a world championship in him."
The Liverpool native will use his November bout to shake off the rust before targeting major names in the 175-pound division. Hearn mentioned potential matchups with Joshua Buatsi, Anthony Yarde, Lyndon Arthur, or even Dmitry Bivol as options for Smith’s 2025 campaign.
The stakes are high for Smith. A win next week could pave the way for a big domestic clash or a world title shot early next year. Conversely, another loss could spell the end of his career at the elite level. Smith’s November return will be crucial in setting the tone for what could be his final push for glory.
